The City of LaFayette is a wonderful place to live and work. And we want it to be safe and attractive. We take P.R.I.D.E. in making sure our residences, businesses—even ourselves— display P.R.I.D.E by maintaining our City infrastructure and by enforcement of our codes and ordinances through the Planning, Codes & Engineering Department.

P.R.I.D.E. stands for Protect-Revitalize-Invest-Develop-Enjoy and it’s an initiative we asked our citizens to adopt as well as adopting that philosophy as well.

The Engineering department employs the City Engineer and a GIS analyst who, under direction from City Planning and City Manager, oversee and perform a variety of complex professional field and office engineering work in connection with water/waste water, natural gas and electric infrastructure, community development, airport, transportation and other planning and construction projects.

The Building Inspection & Codes Enforcement Department employs the Chief Building Inspector and Codes Enforcement inspectors and has the mission to promote and oversee the health, safety and welfare of our residents and visitors by enforcing building codes and issuing building permits within City of LaFayette.

The Codes Enforcement Department enforces compliance with the International Building Code, ICC, adopted by the State of Georgia and the code of ordinances of the City of LaFayette. This encompasses zoning restrictions, business sign requirements, subdivision regulations, nuisance abatement, property maintenance and condemnations, as they apply to residential, commercial and industrial.
